Kuumba – To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.

Today is the 6th day of Kwanzaa, and the last day of 2016. I wasn’t sure if I was gonna drop Moment(s) today or yesterday. Nia or Purpose the 5th day of Kwanzaa was the 30th. I make music for a multitude of reasons, in my purest form, I just like to express myself. Some days, I feel the need to inspire others. Creativity is the base, to my being. No matter what it is, I feel the urge to put my own spin on things. It’s how I recognize myself. The more time I spend on the internet the less I’m sure if we’re becoming ourselves or running from ourselves. I hope to run more towards myself this upcoming year.

I wrote Moment(s) at the end of my college career (in late 2014) to trying to get into grad school (early 2016). I was really happy then (still am now) and all the people that were there when I wrote it, are still here now. That’s a blessing. If you want to read more about the process, you can go over to one of my social networks, I was lucky enough to do a few interviews about it. I’m just here to show my gratitude for the people and places that made this possible. You know who you are. I’ve got to experience some things that only about 1% of the world will get to do, I’m learning more than I ever could imagine my brain could hold. And I’m getting closer and closer to my purpose. Moment(s) is my 4th project spanning 6 years and I’m very proud of it. I never in a million years would imagine my name in Philadelphia’s biggest news paper. I can’t be given the credit for it but, the fact people thought enough of me or anything I did to put it there, for me, is incredible.

Moment(s) will continue on, at its core I just wanted people to pay attention to those everyday things. I myself always get caught trying to create the bigger picture. Don’t miss the trees looking for the forest. I wish everyone a great year, to better themselves (and their communities). I hope you continue this journey with us, get some PYS in, buy some merch, go to some events, create/build/contribute/do something to brighten our world.

We are all capable, if willing.
