Trugoy Announces New De La Soul Mixtape Next Week + More Music (News)

After recently speaking with Billboard, Trugoy of De La Soul has announced that not only are two new projects in the works, but a a new mixtape will be released within the next few weeks. The legendary group, who released their entire discography Valentine’s Day due sample clearance issues, publishing rights and ownership legalities that prohibited their music from being sold, seem to be more excited than ever to release new music.

“We’re already in the process of recording two albums, but actually it [releasing the discography] made us feel like we really, really need to get this done. People are still fans, still really love the music and let’s do it for them”, Trugoy went on to say.

Of those two projects, one is supposedly a sample-based album and one will be recorded with L.A.-band, Rhythm Roots Allstars. Likewise, the mixtape will include new songs, as well as reworked material, in De La-fashion, “It’s not just a mixtape with 11 songs, there are skits and things. It’s cool. That’s coming out in about a week, and hopefully God willing more De La music.”

Audio: Jay Electronica ft. LaTonya Better In Tune With The Infinite

I don’t know if this is coincidence but I was just on twitter the other day talking about waiting for new Jay Electronica. Although no new word on when his first full length album will be dropping he takes the liberty of giving waiting ears some new candy. This track is called “Better In Tune With The Infinite” and features wonderful vocalist LaTonya.

Thank the music gods.
